Click here to see the profile of this user 		TKECentral.net??? - 2005/09/14 23:03 So everybody knows that TKECentral.net was a pretty cool site and offered a lot of cool stuff for tekes...my question is why don't we expand our site to offer the same things? We can keep the forum as the main focus but allow other links off to other parts of the site.

I've had really good success with this recently on my chapters site at http://www.nsutekes.com

It would be 100% integrated with the forum and you would be able to skin the whole site (much easier than skinning a phpbb) The forum would still be phpBB, it would just be wrapped up w/ more options.

Let me know what you think...if you like it I'll begin moving ahead with the process.

I liked a couple of things about TKECentral... The Wallpapers, Themes, Clipart... all good stuff...

I also liked the Documents and such taken from there... for chapter use... We need to market our site as a useful tool for Chapters...

If we did this, how much editing ability would I have? I have a lot of graphics & themes and shit like that I would love to put up. Cheers,

I'm very familiar with setting up the templates and the css, if you laid out the site, I could slice it up and make the template out of it. Basically send me the raw photoshop file.

As for other features...I think this would open up the ability of the site and gives us many new features.

The best part is it is all the user stuff is still controlled by phpbb so we still have that admin part. Maybe I'll copy all the data from this and setup a test site to give you an idea..then I could let you see the back end.

I've taken this idea and expanded upon it and I'm only giving away one clue.

TKEResource.com

it's not completed, but should be shortly and I'll give all of the moderators a sneak peek at it before i release it to the public.

We might be stepping on some toes with this one, but I believe it will be a much better and combined resource.

My current plans include:

> Links Directory (members can submit more links)
> Document Resource (members can submit their own docs)
> Photo Gallery (members photos / clip art)
> Newsletter capability so we can keep the memberbase updated with news for the site
> Calendar tightly integrated with the site
> Web based IRC chat client tied to deepspace.org's irc server
> Member profiles

A few more just can't think of it right now.

I also picked a new domain because tkeforums seemed narrowed to just the forums and I want to provide more than just the forums.
