Okay, here is a short list of events for exchanges with sororities. There are tons more. The important thing to remember is to be CREATIVE. The girls want to do something different, something other than the tired old toga party or fiji island party. Really decorate the house well and have contests and prizes. Girls go for that stuff.
Nerd Party (pocket protectors, hornrimmed glasses, etc) Boxer Rebellion (Boxers and Bowties) Pajama Mama (pajamas and slippers) Mardi Gras (New Orleans or Rio theme) Freaker's Ball (sixties hippies) Come as your Favorite Drink (Old Grand Dad, Black Russian, Grasshoppers) Fifties (bobby Soxers and greasers) Prep (preps and prepettes) New Wave/Punk (spiked hair/safety pins) Gq/Cosmo (designer fashions) Hospital Exchange (doctors and nurses) Mental Hospital Exchange (demented doctors and naughty nurses) Dead Celebrity Party Army Party (fatigues and squirtguns) One Piece of Clothing Party Heaven and Hell (devils or angels) Red Light Affair (pimps and hookers) Dynamic Duo (batman/robin, mickey/minnie, etc) All the World's a Stage (foreign costumes) London Fog (bobbies, dockworkers, Eliza Doolittle, bowler hatted financiers) Shower Party (towels) Black and White (black and white clothing) Rockabilly (Elvis lookalike/bobby sox and ponytails) Rasta Reggae (Rastafarian; dreadlocks made from mops) Baby Brawl (diapers and bottles) Suppressed Desire (your favorite fantasy) Reincarnation Party (who you would like to be reincarnated as) Fireman's/Policeman's Ball Partner's in Crime (Bonnie and Clyde, Butch and Sundance, etc.) Wedding Exchange (brides and Grooms) Turning Japanese (geisha girls and shoguns) Going to a Go-Go (early sixties mod gear, Austin Powers - like)
As far as "regular" big parties, also try to get away from the MASH Bash, Toga, Island parties - everyone does them. However, I DO like island parties that are inventive such as Tacky Tourist (aloha shirts, bermuda shorts, cameras), Gilligan's Island, Tarzan/Jane, Adam and Eve, Shipwrecked Parties. One kind of insensitive one is Titanic Party, were it starts out formal with chamber music, sitdown dinner, etc, then everyone jumps in the pool. Make sure you go to Goodwill or Salvation Army for the dressup clothes. Other good ones are: Barn Dances - Country Western Parties Wild Wild West Parties (with saloon, poker playing, cowboys, dance hall girls. Don't forget the shootout with water guns at the end.) Stone Age Parties, Great Outdoorsman Parties, Viking Parties, Pirate Parties, Hillbilly Parties, Arabian Nights, Medieval Mischief, Outerspace, Great Gatsby, Mexican or Canadian Parties, Hooray for Hollywood (make it like Academy Awards with red carpet, dress as favorite movie star) Monte Carlo, Las Vegas Night
Just be inventive. Try to allow people the opportunity to be or do something they normally wouldn't get to do. You can be crazy and funny without being an A-hole. Always shoot for the reputation of being the "gentlemen that throw the best parties". Not necessarily the wildest or the crudest, just the best and most inventive. And remember, your party guests should always feel like they are in their own house, never uncomfortable - especially the girls. You are responsible for each and every person there from the minute he or she walks through the door till the time they get home.
